What is Amnesty International?

Amnesty International’s vision is a world in which every person enjoys all the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Members campaign to abolish the death penalty, torture and other forms of cruel, inhumane or degrading treatment or punishment; to end extra-judicial executions and “disappearances”; to protect the human rights of refugees and asylum seekers; to protect the human rights of non-combatants in armed conflicts; for fair and prompt trials for all political prisoners; for the release of all prisoners of conscience; and to oppose abuses such as hostage-taking, torturing and killing prisoners and other arbitrary killings.
