Health and Community Services Speech and Language Therapy Department

The Speech and Language Therapy Service is part of the Community Health Service and based at Overdale hospital.

Therapists work with children and adults with speech and language difficulties as well as feeding and swallowing problems. Referrals are open but the majority of referrals are from clinics, family doctors, health visitors and hospital consultants. Individual and group therapy sessions are held at Communicare, schools, nurseries, hospitals and the Poplars Day Centre. Patients are also treated on the wards of the General and Overdale Hospitals. Adults with learning difficulties can also receive treatment at Le Geyt Centre and other work venues.
