Access to medical records
Medical notes – doctor’s
Legally, GP’s notes are the property of the GP. In the UK they are the property of the NHS. Under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018, you have the right to see information that is held about you and to ask for it to be corrected if it is not correct. This is called a Subject Access Request. You can make a request in writing directly to your GP.
If you have any issues with your request being accepted, you can contact the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner.
